Matthias Isler · Fractional CTO

Modernise your software. Keep the business running.

I decide what to keep, change or replace, then own the transition while protecting ongoing operations.

Let’s talk about your business.

I’m Matthias Isler, fractional CTO, founder and engineer. I led Staffcloud's live-platform rewrite and help software businesses change their products, data and operating workflows.

What is worth keeping?

Age alone does not justify replacement. The reason should be concrete: a capability you cannot deliver, a cost you cannot sustain or a dependency you cannot safely carry.

Fragile architecture, disconnected data and workarounds may justify targeted changes, a redesigned workflow or a rebuild. Existing code and operating knowledge deserve an explicit decision.

Transition02

Lead the transition as one piece of work

Live product and customer commitments

Targeted change, staged replacement or rebuild

Tested migration and release decisions

Continued service, recovery and knowledge transfer

Preserve what customers depend on while the system changes.

I define the target architecture and migration, then lead engineering, data movement and team changes. Testing, release decisions, recovery and knowledge transfer protect what customers depend on.

Ongoing product improvements can continue where the architecture and available capacity allow. Those trade-offs need to be clear before dates are promised.

Experience03

Experience of the difficult part

At Staffcloud, I led engineering and a large-scale rewrite to a modular, multi-tenant platform while building the organisation around it.

“Matthias remained calm and focused and laid the foundation for our success today.”
Yves Ortiz — CEO and Co-Founder, StaffcloudOn my work as CTO.

Client work · Fundraising business serving nonprofits

Modernisation can change the service itself

A fundraising business's fragmented knowledge made each submission expensive. I designed a new knowledge architecture and workflow, then led implementation through a development partner. Reusable client knowledge connected with opportunity requirements, automated research and human judgement.

Reuse company knowledge to change the cost of delivering the service.

Engagement05

How we can work together

I can lead a focused Modernisation assignment or own the transition as fractional CTO, with AI Engineering or Data And Analytics where useful. I work through the existing team and bring in partners when needed.

You can also commission an independent review of the proposed plan before deciding on implementation.

CTO mandates start at

CHF 3'500per month

We agree the scope individually. Focused assignments are quoted separately.

Next step06

Start with what the business needs to preserve

The first conversation is free and takes 30 minutes. You leave with my view on whether I can help and how.
